Origin of the name Rupsha: The history of Rupsha Upazila i.e. Khulna is closely connected with Bhairab river. In fact, Khulna's journey as a business center is centered on Bhairab. The Bhairab is the longest river in the south. At one time this river was a terrible idol. Avon no longer has that ordeal. The origin of Bhairab is in this Rupsha. The beginning of Bhairab is from the opposite side of where the Srutakirti river falls into the Padma through Malda.

After coming some distance and merging with Jalangi river, it was liberated again and came to Khulna through Meherpur, Darshana, Kotchandpur and Jessore. Sen has left the market and turned around. Meanwhile, the Pashur River in the south extends to the beel in the east of Khulna. To the west a canal mentioned from Beel Pabla joins the Mayur River (Maiyarganga) to the south. Notable rivers of Rupsa are: Rupsha, Bhairab, Atharobaki, Bhajanshah, etc. Notable. Rupsha Upazila Upazila is bisected by Atharobaki river. The two banks of the river have been constructed by the Water Development Board. At present all these rivers are used for agriculture. In addition, many fish are found in this river.
